Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the acclaimed series The Middle.

US actor Finn, who featured in popular television series like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, per media reports.

"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a message.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a regular part on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".

"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.

Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
