Iran Claims Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
