LA Explodes in Celebration as Dodgers Claim Second World Series Victory
The City of Angels experienced citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Supporters worldwide joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a team has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Local events included a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Online footage show thousands of Angelenos packing downtown streets, many displaying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The squad was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the masses, raising the championship trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The procession path concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist driving a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Celebrations started prior to the parade, with Dodgers fans setting off fireworks in the streets of the city center on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the MVP of the championship, spoke directly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto stated. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
However, Mark Walter was met with a cooler reception at the rally. Recordings from the gathering seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a combination of cheers and boos, with negative shouts interrupting his address.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An estimated 225,000 people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, supporters this year showed equal or greater support.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
