The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Against the Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial championship series following the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Down 3-1, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three victory in the series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."
Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd choose in that spot other than him with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.
Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he continued.
Toronto claimed the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
