The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Significant Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the channel unveiled a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. During a period often defined by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four key characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for a little longer."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who found the show and championed its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about watching this charming family go about their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running layer of irony. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is available for streaming on HBO Max.
