This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, donated by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people yelling “six seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so widespread that a major dictionary recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: happy, varied, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Each year, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
