White House Decries 'Democrat Fabrication' as Additional Epstein Estate Photos Made Public
House Democrats have made public a new tranche of what they described as "disturbing" photographs from the property of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, depicting among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The first release of 19 photographs—some of which have been previously circulated—combined with another 70 issued later on Friday constitute a tiny fraction of the approximately 100,000 images handed over to the House oversight committee, which is probing the conduct and connections of Epstein.
The shamed investor was a victim of an apparent self-inflicted death in a New York jail cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking charges.
High-Profile Individuals in the Images
Included in the notable figures shown in the initial batch are public figures featuring movie maker Woody Allen; Microsoft creator Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin conglomerate.
Donald Trump appears in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is seen with six women, whose faces are redacted.
Administration Reaction
The White House responded to the release in a statement, charging Democrats of purposefully "cherry-picking" the photographs for political purposes and to "seek to establish a false storyline."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been repeatedly debunked," an administration official said, maintaining that "this presidency has done more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats have ever done by repeatedly calling for openness, making public thousands of pages of documents, and demanding further investigations into Epstein's Democrat friends."
Democratic Lawmaker Statement
The images were released without context, but as stated by a Democratic representative from California and senior member of the oversight committee, they elicit additional doubts about Epstein's connections to wealthy individuals.
"It is time to halt this White House cover-up and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he stated in a comment.
The publication of these documents coincides with the oversight committee proceeding with its probe into the affair.
